Professor of educational science at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. A civil engineer, primary school teacher, and doctor of educational science, he specialized in supporting education systems in developing school programmes, evaluating student achievement, designing and evaluating textbooks, the training of teachers, and striving towards equity in educational systems. Together with his team, he collaborates with the major international organizations involved in the development of education around the world, such as the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF—International Organization of French-speaking Countries), UNICEF, and UNESCO. He has authored numerous works on the competencies-based approach in educational systems, including, most recently, Une Pédagogie de l’Intégration [Pedagogy of integration] and Des manuels scolaires pour apprendre [Textbooks for Learning], which have been translated into several languages including Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Chinese and Arabic.
