Assistant Professor of Higher Education at the University of Maryland, College Park, and an affiliate faculty member of the LGBT Studies Program, Minority and Urban Education Program, and Women’s Studies Department. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies and a M.A. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Her research interests include anti-oppressive education, qualitative inquiry, and participatory action research. Dr. North has published articles in Curriculum Inquiry, Equity and Excellence in Education, Multicultural Perspectives, Qualitative Inquiry, Qualitative Studies in Education, Review of Educational Research, and Teachers College Record. She is also the author of Teaching for Social Justice? Voices from the Front Lines (Paradigm, 2009) and a section editor of the forthcoming Sexualities and Education: A Reader (Peter Lang).
