This text presents general characteristics for teaching performance evaluation of public universities of three Mexican regions. The information was acquired through a questionnaire, analysis of documents and academic exchange meetings (between the evaluators). We find strategies for the evaluation of the teaching performance of all universities and the use of questionnaires applied to students as a dominant instrument used while securing information. The evaluation is associated to special programs such as salary compensation and program accreditation processes; a small amount of institutional action to employ the evaluations results for continual development programs were observed. There are some universities which employ different sources to obtain pertinent information; different instruments evaluate scenarios, areas of knowledge and map out continual development programs.
