The aim of the present work is to characterize primary and secondary students' school achievement (language/arithmetic) based on the analysis of social determinants and school environment; and to identify risk factors of performance among social determinants to contribute to the efforts of designining intervention strategies. To carry out the regression analyses for the identification of contextual predictors of school achievement, two risk indexes were designed based on individual variables from national educational data (Argentina). Selection of variables was made based on the perspective of child development needs. The implemented regression models allowed identifying prediction profiles characterized by increasing school achievement as social determinants and school context improved. The applied methodology of analyses allowed identifying the existence of a circumstance of educational inequity, which suggests the need to: (a) universalize protective actions toward child development; (b) improve material and human resources related to educational practices in different contexts (home, school); (c) teachers training; and (d) improve communication systems among the different actors of educational communities.
