The Evaluation of Teaching: Platforms, New Agendas and Alternative Paths

The present work refers to experiences and practices developed in the scope of the University of Buenos Aires around three different glances. First, it describes the habitual practices of the evaluation of teaching that are developed in the university like the contests, annual informative reports on evaluation, the evaluations for investigation subsidies and incentives, the students’ evaluations, the processes of institutional self-evaluation, and the reflection seminars or meetings on the good practices. In second term, it incorporates reports of the research that, with respect to this matter, were carried out at different working moments and whose results were registered; thus, four reports are used to analyze the teaching trade, their beliefs, assumptions and requirements from the perspective of the self-evaluation. In third term, it suggests some categories of analysis that were gathered in recent investigations around the good practices of education in the superior level, which could install policies for the improvement of teaching in the mentioned, having been this the last objective of any evaluation proposal. As a conclusion, but leaving open the debate, different proposals are considered to construct a new agenda for the evaluation.
