Educational Evaluation for Social Justice

.Abstract
 

The evaluation is a fundamental element which contributes decisively to reach an education to work from and for Social Justice. This article is based on a conception of Social Justice, not to mention its complex and highly political component, it highlights three of its elements: distribution, recognition, and participation.

With this basis, there are two inputs from the evaluation for the achievement of education for Social Justice and, therefore, a more just society. First, it debates how the evaluation should be in a fair education, it discusses topics such as the need for a fair evaluation for each and every student, to assess their overall development, its degree of commitment and involvement with Social Justice, as well as their participation and the school’s community; taking into consideration their characteristics as well as the reality of their schools.

Secondly, it deals with the evaluation of education for Social Justice; in other words, how should education be assessed to verify that it is actually working from and for Social Justice. To achieve the just mentioned eleven elements have been proposed for evaluation; among them are: universality and equality to access education, the social and cultural heterogeneity of the students in schools and among schools, the quality of the teaching and learning process in the classroom, regarding the conditions and resources for learning, and the respect and exercise the of rights of children and youngsters in school.
