The use of ICTs by non University´s Faculty. Basic Model and Influence of Personal and Contextual Factors

.Abstract
 

The use made by different agents of the Educational System of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) remains one of the key elements in any discussion aimed at targeting policies about it. This paper presents an approach to the dimensional structure of the use of ICT involving two distinct areas: personal and classroom use. At the same time, it is considered from a comprehensive approach that takes into account the most salient personal and contextual dimensions. To do this we used a survey design. The target population constitutes the teaching staff of centers of primary and secondary education of the Comunidad Valenciana. Information was collected through questionnaires. It is proposed a MIMIC model to test the dimensional structure of the different uses of ICT and the effects on them of personal and contextual factors. It has been found a fully satisfactory fit that accounts for the structure of the fundamental elements of both types of uses and their relationship. Also, you get consistent information on the influence of personal and contextual factors on each of the elements. The findings provide clues to establish more consistent policies on teachers and, particularly, to guide professional development and initial training.
