Analysis of Educational Resources in Primary Education from an Intercultural Perspective

.Abstract
 

The analysis of educational processes, also from an intercultural approach, includes aspects concerning the materials used. The purpose of this article is to present part of a research project which reviews the situation of intercultural education in primary schools in the Community of Madrid (Spain) regarding educational resources: their characteristics, the vision of diversity they show, use and type of human support. From the information collected through observation scales developed for this project and used in 14 schools, those dimensions that conform more to the intercultural approach and those in which the adjustment is less, regarding resources, are identified. Being the scores medium-high in general, most frequent items relate to the flexible use of various resources and the figures of counselor and families. Resources with a vision about diversity that highlight relevant aspects of other cultural groups beyond stereotypes are less frequent. The final discussion focuses on the importance of caring for the use made of the resources to make the educational process equitable and provide quality education for all, and on teachers need to take an active and reflective role in the review of their own practice and beliefs in relation to the resources used.
