Analysis and Evaluation of Teaching based on Digital Reading Under PISA Framework: The Case of Spain |

.Abstract | ||||
The digital reading competence is a necessity in today's society immersed in a mediated context by ICT and cyberlinguistic processes. The results of Spain in the evaluation of this competence are below the OECD average, which represents another barrier to overcome. This article presents a case study in which we investigate through a descriptive methodology which educational activities are best rated at improving the digital reading proficiency of students of Secondary Education according to the performance parameters of the international PISA exams. We also analyzed using quantitative methodology teachers´ perceptions about their competence to improve the digital reading and difficulties and challenges that must be addressed to improve the results. The findings show how learning processes based on digital reading are still underdeveloped and faculty in a large majority expresses lack of preparation, training and resources available in the school for the effective development of a teaching that encourages successful digital reading proficiency of students |
