Dr. Marianne A. Larsen completed her M.A. and PhD in Comparative Education at the Institute of Education, University of London in 2004. She is currently an Associate Professor at Western University’s Faculty of Education. Her areas of research include historical and theoretical approaches to comparative and international education, education policy, social studies education, especially global citizenship education, and the internationalization of higher education. Her current research is focused on global citizenship in higher education. She has been working on two research projects on international service learning (ISL) with the aim to understanding if and how these experiences shape university students as global citizens. She is the past President of the Comparative and International Education Society of Canada and current editor of the peer-reviewed journal, Canadian and International Education.
