Abstract | ||||||
The International Convention on the Rights of the Persons with Disabilities (2006) is a milestone in the creation of rights since it is where all debates related to disabilities are expressed. One of debates is connected to the right to education, without discrimination and with equal rights of opportunities, in every level of education and throughout a person’s life. Even though the educational system incorporated strategies for inclusion decades ago, these strategies have been mainly aimed at early childhood and primary education and, to a lesser extent, secondary education. As far as higher education is concerned, the information is scarce; consequently, the article is focused on providing a description of the situation regarding the right to education to persons with disabilities in general, especially in Latin American and particularly in Argentina, as the foundation for decision making in public policies. |
