Evaluation of University Teachers from an Institutional Perspective

University teaching is one of the essential functions of the university and plays a fundamental role in the improvement of the quality of the institutions and like an excellent area of the institutional policies for the educational professional development. This way, the evaluation of university teaching is transformed into an essential aspect of the university as much to carry out political improvement and innovation as for the political, academic and administrative decision making. In this work the evaluation of university teaching will be approached within the framework of the institutional evaluations from a perspective that includes the different educational functions: those of government and management, those of production and distribution of the knowledge, those of the diverse actors; the conceptions on education and the learning and the way in which these articulate to each other, among other matters. For that reason, the main theoretical-methodological foundations of the investigation are presented in “the policies of evaluation of university teaching in Argentina in a comparative perspective with Spain and Mexico”; it was carried out in the Interdisciplinary Nucleus of Formation and Studies for the Development of Educación (NIFEDE) of the National University of Argentina, Tres de Febrero. Some considerations on the processes of evaluation of university teaching are developed, within the framework of the institutional evaluations in Argentina and are analyzed the external evaluations realized in Argentina, by CONEAU as well as the collected data of the Project “The Changing Academic Profession the International Research Project” (CAP), developed in Argentina by the UNTREF and the National University of General Sarmiento (UNGS).
