The Pedagogical Dimension of Assessment by Competencies and the Fostering of the Professional Development in the University Student

.Abstract
 

The introduction of competency-based approach in Spanish Higher Education system, wrapped by the principle of lifelong learning, is part of the process of European convergence of educational policies geared towards a Knowledge Society in a global context. Assessment is one of the issues of greatest concern is generating, because it denotes the complexity of the competency-based training, combined with the need to ensure the competencies development of university student. In this sense, the article presents a theoretical and methodological view on the educational aspect of the competency assessment based on two approaches: superficial and deep, so help us to advance the understanding of teaching, both dimensional and criterial, competencies university. Subsequently, we provide a reflection on the implications of assessment strategies for collecting evidence of competence development according to criteria of quality.
