.Abstract | ||||
The teaching performance evaluation is one of the essential strategies to achieve the teaching quality in educational institutions in general, and higher education in particular; however, exercises made in several universities in the country have focused more on administrative intended than formative; in this context, the objective of this paper is to present the teacher evaluation process developed at the Universidad del Caribe from a formative position and to evaluate the practice with its educational model, understood as an assessment of teaching skills, to obtain information for decision-making, improving the quality of teaching, and consequently, learning. This process is structured in two actions: the application of an instrument to students about the work of their teachers, and in turn they make a self-evaluation; and teacher monitoring, which is an education specialist visit to the teacher´s class. This is perceived as an evaluation which puts the teacher at the center of the problem, and, at the same time, put him as the best solution. |
