Diversity, interculturalism and inclusion in higher education: creating an outreach program as an alternative to advance awareness and removing attitudinal barriers

Constructing an Inclusive Higher Education can be considered as one of the challenges for our modern society. Likewise, the appreciation of the diversity as a social value is one of the determinants of the improvement in educational quality. In this way, the present article aims to contribute with some elements to get closed to the challenge mentioned earlier. To achieve this purpose, on the first part the document will be present some results of the research across a bibliographic review that reveals principal aspects to be considered when building an Inclusive Higher Education.

On the second part, an research experience developed in Manuela Beltran University, conducted in partnership with the high education Afro-Colombians University Student Collective (CEUNA) will be shared; this experience received the endorsement of the National Education Ministry of Colombia. This proposal is coherent with the sources of the international law, which have been gaining strength in recent years. The research was about designing and developing an advanced course (diplomado) for internal and external persons of the educational community.
